Hoje, mais uma vez, recebi um boleto bancário referente ao domínio do meu site. Achei estranho que ao invés dos R$ 30,00 anuais, o valor é de R$ 135,00. Espantada, pensei: "mas já paguei esse ano... por que será que estão cobrando novamente?".

Tentei várias vezes telefonar para os números impressos no verso do boleto. Ora, número inexistente, ora toca toca e ninguem atende, desisti. Entrei no site do registro.br para ver se conseguia outro número, principalmente porque os números para os quais estava tentando eram do Rio de Janeiro.

Ao explicar para o atendente a minha dúvida, ele logo me informou:
- Ah, essa é uma empresa de hospedagem que está oferecendo o serviço. Para cancelar, tem que entrar em contato lá.

Neste minuto olhei direito para o boleto e me dei conta de que realmente não era do registro.br, e sim de uma empresa chamada registrar.br.com.

De duas uma:
- ou o registro.br fez essa empresa para oferecer hospedagem
- ou essa registrar.br.com é muito da sacana, pois o logo é bem parecido e confunde mesmo os mais distraídos como eu.

Detalhe: eles nao explicam nada, simplesmente mandam o boleto; se pagar, "tá pego"....

halloween from hell

October 31, 2009, Via funchal Hall was hosting two great thrash metal bands, Exodus and Kreator.
By arriving at the venue, we could see the house would be packed. Many people on the streets and the line was almost turning around the block.

I took my credentials and went in. Got all the equipment ready and the show started.
The only huge problem was the light. It was very low and mainly red. It was quite tough to work on that concert because on the top of that, the musicians moved all the time from one side to another. Of course except the drummer which surprisinly was the only one with a good light on.

The opening was in charge of Exodus, which presented the fans with the following songs:

Imagens retratam a realidade dos conflitos e da violência, mas também mostram que mesmo nos momentos mais difíceis de desespero há esperança, e lembram que a dignidade humana é duradoura e universal. Excelente oportunidade de refletirmos sobre a urgência do caminho da não-violência e a construção de uma cultura de paz. A ONU deu a esse caminho o nome de 'peacebuilding', diferente e muito além de 'peacemaking'.

Apresentada em mais de 50 países pelo Comitê Internacional da Cruz Vermelha (CICV), a exposição de fotos “A Humanidade em Guerra” chega a São Paulo no dia 20 de outubro, em uma iniciativa em parceria com a Oboré Projetos Especiais e a Matilha Cultural. As fotografias traçam a história dos conflitos armados e suas consequências humanitárias no último século e meio, evocando, por meio de imagens impactantes, a dor e a angústia de homens, mulheres e crianças que suportaram os suplícios da guerra, desde a Secessão Americana até as guerras e situações de violência armada da atualidade. Além das fotos históricas, integram a exibição imagens de James Nachtwey, Chris Morris, Ron Haviv e Franco Pagetti, da VII Agency, cooperativa com sede em Nova York. Em 2008 e 2009, cada um desses respeitados fotógrafos de guerra viajou a dois de oito países em conflito onde atua o CICV: Afeganistão, Colômbia, República Democrática do Congo (RDC), Geórgia, Haiti, Líbano, Libéria e Filipinas. O público de São Paulo poderá, assim, ter uma visão singular e em primeira mão do que a guerra e a violência armada fazem com as vidas das pessoas. 13th Intenational Tatoo Convention

Last weekend the 13th International Tatto Convention took place at Espaço das Américas, São Paulo. The event gathered tatoo and piercing lovers and admirers during the whole three days (from the 16 to the 18).

Besides tatoo and piercing booths, the public could have their tatoos an piercings right there.

On another spot visitors could develop their drawings and exhibit right there. Also, some seminars happened in the afternoons and on Saturday night, a contest to elect the "Miss Tatoo".

Parque do Ibirapuera

After a while sharing other place's photos, I felt the need to show a little bit of where I live. There are some beautiful places and if we put the nose, we will find lots of specialties in places we used to go and don't notice the beauty.

Since some years ago, one of my plans was to catch up my bike rides at the "Parque do Ibirapuera". I used to wake up around 5:30 am, get the bike and "fly away".

Thank God and other things, I restarted going to the park last week. Well, I can say things got different. At the past times, the park at this time of morning would be empty, kinda scary when talking about Sao Paulo, and the traffic almos inexistent. By leaving the building I already felt a big difference. WOW, so many cars on the streets, and so early! OK, let's be careful. If it really gets a serious activity, I'd better get a helmet.

"Parque do Ibirapuera" was launched in 1954 in order to celebrate the Anniversary of the City. It became the most important and famous park in town and it is the second in size, after "Parque do Carmo".
In the native language, Tupi, Ibirapuera means "rotten tree" ( ibirá, means tree and "puera" means what has already gone).

The total area is 1.517km² and its three artificial lakes result in 15,7 mil m².

The architectural project is composed by:
- the Japanese Pavillion (a copy of the Katura Palace in Japan)
- Industry Palace which now is the Bienal and MAC (Contemporary Art Museum)
- The Nations Palace (previously the Cityhall until 1992; now it is The Afro Brasil Museum)
- Exhibits Palace aka OCA (previously The Aeronautics Museum)

Riga's old town (historical center) has been taken as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, notable for its medieval and art-nouveau architecture, considered by UNESCO as never seen anywhere in the world.

Around 35% of the territory is filled with green.

Latvia became independent from Russia in 1990, at that time, Soviet Union, and the russians represent 25% of the population. In 2004, Latvia became a member of OTAN (NATO) and the European Union.

Talking a bit about Warsaw, it is the capital and the largest city of Poland, one of the Baltic countries. It's also known as the "East Phoenix" (phoenix means reborn from the ashes), cause it was about 95% destroyed in the II World War and afterwards totally rebuilt.

When the Nazi took over, all education institutions were closed and the Jewish were taken to the Warsaw Ghetto. But not only the Jewish were seeked. Intelectuals, artists, and so on.
We can see a documentary about this War in the movie "The Pianist". The Ghetto was destroyed under command of Hitler.

Poland population is around 90% Catholic. John Paul II, after becoming the Pope, celebrated the Mass at the square and encourage the population to "change the face of Poland".
("Let Thy Spirit descend! Let Thy Spirit descend and renew the face of the land! This land!", the Pope). One of his most famous words: "Don't be afraid, I came to help you".
In 1995 the Warsaw Metro was opened. In 2004, Poland got into the European Union. Now, Warsaw is experiencing the best economic moment in its history.

In music, one of the greatest names, Frederic Chopin, was from Poland. He died and was burried in France. However, before dying, he made a wish. If his body couldnt be transported to Warsaw, he wanted his heart to be sent there. His sister attended his wish and his heart is in the Holy Cross Church. Also, there is a Chopin bronze statue at the Warsaw's Royal Baths Park.
Chopin died at 39, victim of pulmonar tuberculosis.

It's amazing to see a country, or a city, which after all these terrible destructive events it's now a wonderful place. The only "trash" on the streets (which is not really a trash) are the leaves fallen from the trees. The buildings are all conserved. The destroyed area, we are talking about almost 100% of Warsaw, is now all beautifully rebuilt.

The trip was confirmed out of the blue! I was worried about leaving some jobs behind and my dogs with the dogsitter, but I decided to go on with the crazyness.
It is always a tough time to accomplish everything before taking off, but everything worked out fine.

After 11 hours flying, I arrived in Amsterdam, but just for the connection. I was already feeling my "hand-lugagge" heavy. Well, basically I am carrying my backpack with 2 cameras, 3 lenses, 1 external flash and all needed accessories but charges and "extra-everything" which are in the checked in suitcase. On the top of the heaviness of the backpack, i'm also with my notebook and cables. But it is part of the profession, I can't complain. At the airport i have to remove everything from the bags to go on the x-ray. It sucks.

Ok, back to Amsterdam, 3-hour-wait for the connection to the first destination, Warsaw, Poland. I am so excited to go there cause I know there is such a history "behind the city". I am also very curious to know how it is now a city which has been taken over by other countries since early times and stayed many years "out-of-the-map".

But, I did not believe in what I saw in the Schipol Airport (Amsterdam).

The smoking area, so humiliating. I went there for a smoke, and had to leave cause I felt sooooo dizzy.

Then I went to the gate to wait for the flight to Warsaw. It was an Ok to Bad flight.

For the past months i have not published anything here, maybe because i was not estimulated. The lack of time, the stressful days and so were not inspiring me to write for you.

But, differently from last year's 40-day-trip-to-europe covering rock concerts and rock festivals, and my failed plan to share photos, videos and experiences because i had technical difficulties (very short internet access, for instance), this time i am gonna try to do it differently.

I have started my trip with a quick connection in Amsterdam, which leaded me to Warsaw in Poland. Then, I took a small Embraer plane to come to Vilnius, capital of Lituva and here I am.

This time i have easier free internet access and i am willing to keep you all updated.

Hang on to me and enjoy the trip!

Yesterday, June 25th 2009, Michael Jackson, considered the King of Pop and the icon of the 80's pop music, got together with all of the above. Never in History an artist sold so many records, influenced so many people from different "beliefs" through his dance, his music, his creativity and innovation in doing videoclips..... as Michael Jackson.

With all the reports on TV about his personal life, career, projects and so on, i realized how much i'd forgotten about Micheal Jackson. About how he was present in my life during the 80's. Maybe because of some happenings in the latest years of his life, i didn't pay attention to him anymore. However, it's impossible not to feel sad with this huge loss in the music industry.

I have not much to say, I have got a weird feeling, but i am honestly moved. And I want top leave here my homage to the King of Pop.

On 23 June, Steve Grimmet (from Grim Reaper) got on "InfernoClub/SP" stage, right after the local heavy metal band "Darkness In Flames" opened the night. The venue was pretty crowded and the fans were really into the concert, singing along with Steve. Don't have to mention they went really crazy and headbanged all night long.

Jeff Scott Soto foi um dos destaques das noites do Blackmore Rock Bar no mês de junho, quando comemora seu aniversário. Na noite do dia 26, Jeff e sua banda trouxeram aos fãs sua turnê Beautiful Mess Tour. Jeff, 43, já fez trabalhos com Yngwie Malmsteen, Journey e outras bandas, além de diversas participações como convidado.

Muito animado, caloroso com o público brasileiro, que adora, entrou detonando sua guitarra ao som de 21st Century de seu último álbum, Beautiful Mess, e com ele. Acompanhando Soto estava a banda formada pelos espanhóis Jorge Salan (guitarra) e Fernando Mainer (baixo), e os brasileiros BJ (guitarra e teclado) e Edu Cominato (bateria).

Na seqüência veio um cover da banda Talisman, Colour My XTC, Soul Divine e Our Song” (as duas últimas de seu novo álbum). Depois de um breve papo com o público, apresentou Drowing e Mountain. Alternando musicas de álbuns anteriores com músicas de seu novo álbum, veio Eyes Of Love e Testify. Em seguida, Broken Man, com Jeff nos teclados, e Hey.

Fez mais alguns covers de músicas da Madonna, do Talisman, do Journey e do Queen e sentou na bateria para executar Stand Up e Living The Life, ambas da trilha sonora do filme Rockstar.

Para finalizar, Jeff e sua banda fizeram um medley de hits dos anos 70 e 80: Play That Funky Music (Wild Cherry), Another One Bites The Dust (Queen), Stayin’ Alive (Bee Gees), Ice Ice Baby (Vanilla Ice) e Macho Man (Village People). A platéia estava muito animada, acompanhando Jeff e banda; na parte final do show, teve a oportunidade de chacoalhar o esqueleto.

Foi um show diferenciado, com combinações de músicas dos álbuns anteriores de pegada hard rock, com músicas de seu novo álbum com influencias de funk, soul, rythm and blues e pop.

Acessivel como sempre ao publico brasileiro, ao final do show Jeff atendeu os fãs, dando autógrafos, tirando fotos e fazendo brincadeiras.

Sim, pois ao lado de BB KING, Buddy Guy representa a essência e o legado desse estilo musical, já que os velhos mestres John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, entre outros, infelizmente não estão mais entre nós. Buddy Guy prefere manter a tradição do blues elétrico, sem ter como suporte os metais, recurso esse que há muitas décadas acompanha BB KING. Hoje com 72 anos de idade, com cinco prêmios Grammy em seu currículo, 23 Prêmios W.C. Handy Blues (o máximo que um artista já recebeu), além do Billboard Magazine Century Award, Buddy Guy ainda é capaz de atrair multidões aos seus shows, sua agenda de shows está sempre lotada, toca nos principais festivais americanos e europeus, além de grandes e famosas casas de shows mundo afora. Sua voz continua firme e potente, é possível ouvi-lo mesmo quando não está ao microfone, mas com sua guitarra ele é capaz de ainda executar grandes e extensos solos como em Best Damn Fool, faixa do seu mais recente e aclamado álbum, Skin Deep, nomeado ao Grammy Awards. Nesse show, Buddy Guy preferiu prestar um tributo aos grandes mestres da guitarra, e já na segunda música tocou Hoochie Coochie Man de Muddy Waters e um pouco depois, Boom Boom de John Lee Hooker para delírio geral dos presentes.

O inesperado aconteceu quando o blueseiro abandonou o palco e desceu até a pista e foi tocando por toda a casa e passando pelas mesas; ainda teve fôlego de subir as escadas e dar o ar da graça aos seus fãs que estavam no mezanino, um momento histórico e a platéia já estava conquistada com pouco mais de meia hora de show! Skin Deep é lenta e introspectiva, remete à sua infância na Louisiana, mas é linda em sua essência. Platéia gosta de clássicos, e Damn Right, I've Got The Blues, faixa de seu álbum homônimo de 1991, vencedor de um Grammy, empolgou os presentes, assim como Mustang Sally, do mesmo álbum. Esta foi uma grata surpresa, já que Buddy Guy nem sempre a apresenta ao vivo, sorte de quem pôde conferir. Para continuar prestando homenagens, depois de vacilar em algumas entradas, Buddy optou por executar à sua maneira o clássico Voodoo Child de Jimi Hendrix. Sim, ela mesma! E muita gente não acreditou, lembrando que Hendrix admirava Buddy Guy no início de sua carreira. No final da mesma, emendou acordes de Sunshine Of Your Love do trio inglês Cream, dando uma seqüência única e um momento transcendental do show. O Cream ainda seria reverenciado mais uma vez, já que Buddy tocou Strange Brew, numa versão mais "slow motion", e que mesmo assim agradou bastante. Um grande show do mestre do blues, um belo registro de um músico que ainda grava bons discos e faz shows com muita freqüência. E aos que perderam, resta a esperança...

George Benson no Brasil em tributo a Nat King Cole

A noite começou em grande estilo com a esplêndida performance de Esperanza Spalding e banda, trazendo músicas de seu álbum Esperanza (estréia). Com 24 anos de idade e fã da MPB e bossa nova, entou em palco já tirando aplausos do público e fez uma digna demontração de suas habilidades no baixo. Apaixonada por musica desde os 4 anos, tocou violino até os 15, quando passou a fazer parte de uma orquestra no Oregon. Atualmente é considerada a melhor contrabaixista em ascenção e faz parte do corpo docente da universidade de Berkley, como a mais jovem .jpgprofessora da instituição. Já tocou ao lado de grandes nomes como Pat Metheny.

Não foi por menos que George Benson se dirigiu ao público elogiando Esperanza. Na seqüência falou sobre sua idolatria a Nat King Cole (cantor e pianista nascido no Alabama, assassinado em 1965) dizendo que aquele tributo era mais do que uma honra para ele.

Com uma grande orquestra, Benson deu início à primeira metade do show com MonaLisa, de Nat King Cole, gravada em 1950. Tocou também os sucessos Walking My Baby Back Home, Route 66, That Sunday, That Summer e Unforgettable, inesquecível música de Nat King Cole.

A segunda metade do show foi composta por músicas de Benson, agitando a platéia com Nature Boy, Turn Your Love Around e Nothing Is Gonna Change My Love For You.

Muito simpático, sorridente e afetuoso com a platéia, Benson se comunicava a cada intervalo das músicas. Ao finalizar cada canção, soltava seu inconfundível "wow!", como se saudasse a ele mesmo e a pláteia que o acompanha.

George Benson se apresentou em São Paulo nos dias 7 e 8 de junho, na Via Funchal.

Robert Cray em São Paulo

Nos dias 7 e 8 de maio, Robert Cray, um dos mais expressivos ícones do blues contemporâneo se apresentou no HSBC Brasil, trazendo ao público os seus maiores sucessos incluindo faixas do último trabalho From Across The Pound. Mais um show do projeto "HSBC Music Series" que teve início com a apresentação do guitarrista Buddy Guy um mês antes.

Cray, com sua técnica apurada na guitarra combinada sua voz grave e letras bem-humoradas, tem em seu currículo mais de 15 álbuns desde 1980.

Iniciou a carreira primeiramente influenciado pelos Beatles, mas mudou para o caminho do blues após assistir Albert Collins, com quem gravou tempos depois o álbum Showdown, que virou um clássico. Teve sucessos regravados por Eric Clapton (Bad Influence) e pelo mesmo Albert Collins (Phone Booth).

Em 1986 recebeu o Grammy pelo álbum Strong Persuader e hoje é considerado um dos poucos artistas de blues, ao lado de Steve Ray Vaughn, a ter sucesso comercial na década de 80.

Heresia, agitação e muitas garotas marcam o show do Simple Plan

Naquela fatídica terça-feira a fila para entrar no Credicard Hall era extremamente extensa, garotas cantavam e gritavam na fila como se seu ídolo já estivesse ali, em frente delas. Os pais pacientemente acompanhavam suas filhas para dentro da casa de shows. Mães preocupadas, pais com medo de possíveis tumultos e um público empolgado ao extremo foi o que se via aos montes. A banda de abertura Hiro entrou para esquentar o público às 21:00. Gritos histéricos os receberam. Parecia final de campeonato de futebol. Incrível. A banda, parceira de gravadora do Simple Plan e que possui o filho de Fabio Jr. nos vocais fez bonito e agitou bastante o público razoável que ocupava as pistas e os camarotes. A banda deixou o palco feliz por ter cumprido sua árdua missão em trinta minutos de show. Às 22:30, após uma hora de espera, as luzes se apagaram novamente e o Simple Plan é recebido por gritos que eram ainda mais altos que os alto-falantes da casa de shows. De volta ao país para uma turnê por sete cidades, a banda canadense de pop punk se apresentou na capital paulista e cumpriu a promessa de que traria surpresas aos fãs brasileiros. Além de tocar músicas de seus três álbuns de estúdio, o quinteto formado por Pierre Bouvier (vocais), Chuck Comeau (bateria e vocais), David Desrosiers (baixo e vocais), Sebastien Lefebvre (guitarra e vocais) e Jeff Stinco (guitarra) fez um medley que incluiu covers do hit lésbico I Kissed A Girl, de Katy Perry, e Summer Love, de Justin Timberlake. O grupo intercalou canções como I’d Do Anything, I’m Just A Kid e Addicted, de seu trabalho de estréia, No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls (2002), com faixas de seu segundo álbum, Still Not Getting Any (2004), a exemplo de Shut Up!, Welcome To My Life, Me Against The World, Promise e Untitled – esta última com direito a um tumultuado desempenho do vocalista no fundo da platéia. Do álbum mais recente, Simple Plan (2008), a banda tocou, entre outras, When I’m Gone, Take My Hand, The End, Your Love Is A Lie, Generation e Time To Say Goodbye. As guitarras altas – acompanhadas pela espessa fumaça que saía do palco – não assustaram os adolescentes, que cantaram cada refrão como se fosse a última vez. O clima de histeria voltava a imperar cada vez que o vocalista falava – e não foram poucas. Extremamente comunicativo, Pierre Bouvier não se cansou de exaltar a beleza dos fãs. “Vocês são lindos” e “quantas garotas bonitas” pontuaram todo o show. “O Brasil é nosso país favorito. Mas não contem para ninguém, isso fica só entre nós”, falou. Fingindo ignorar a idade média dos presentes, o roqueiro coisas que descobrimos no Brasil. Vocês querem?”, ofereceu. “Este é o melhor show da turnê brasileira” e “eu amo São Paulo” também foram frases repetidas à exaustão, mas o auge aconteceu quando o cantor anunciou uma “surpresa especial”: “Esta música se chama ‘I Love São Paulo’”, apresentou, tratando de improvisar com o resto da banda uma homenagem à cidade. Um show que foi marcado por amores de ambas as partes e declarações de amor em demasia. Haja Plasil!

After 3 years, "Morbid Angel" returns to Brazil

Some bands, after a while on the road, become icons of certain types of music. For instance, when we think about Black Metal, it's impossible not to think about Mayhem, Emperor and Dark Throne At the same time, if we mention Trash Metal, right away we brainstorm Destruction, Slayer and early Metallica. Well, about Death Metal? Talking about Death Metal, one of the most representative bands is Morbid Angel, which has defined and broadened the boundaries of Trash Metal. After 3 years since their last tour in Brazil (2005), fans were looking forward to their return. By the way, in 2005, they had waited for 13 years since the previous Brazilian gig.

The venue was very well chosen. Santana Hall, located in downtown, has a favorable layout and from wherever, fans had a great view of the band and stage.

After some minutes of delay, Morbid Angel got onstage and open the show with "Rapture”. People got crazy and the whole space and danced and sang along with the band. Following to that, “Pain Divine” and other classics such as “Maze Of Torment”, “Lord Of All Fevers And Plague”, “Immortal Rites”, “Chapel of Ghouls” (with the outstanding guitar solo of Trey)

and “Dominate”. “Bil Ur- Sag” from the "Formulas Fatal To The Flesh" album, was a surprise because it's not originally with David Vincent but with Steve Tucker. To close the night, it couldn't be better:“God Of Emptiness” and “World Of Shit”. Another great concert to stay in history. (João Gobo)

Talking about the photo work at Morbid Angel's gig, i can say that the venue was not favorable for the height of the stage and the amps right in the middle of the view, for the extremely low lights and excessive smoke.

Deep Purple onstage in São Paulo Brazil

One of the greatest and most important bands in the Genuine Rock Industry, Deep Purple, performed in São Paulo on 06 and 07 of March at Via Funchal, one of the concert venues in town.

Leaded by Ian Gillan in the vocals, the band formed by Steve Morse (guitar), Roger Glover (Bass), Don Airey (Keyboards) and the magnificent Ian Paice (drums) amazed the crowd of about 4,000 fans (per night) with a shower of classics.

The band was previously in Brazil (2006 ans 2007) and still have the power to gather a great amout of people.

Ian Gillan got moved by the crowd and at the end communicated with the audience by saying "We love playing here... You were fantaaaaastic!!"

P.S.: considering that Deep Purple is one of my favorite bands, i got sad at the backstage when I asked Ian Gillan "How are you?", he answered "Not so good"..... i kept thinking, holy sh**, what's gonna happen when these guys from old school won't be here anymore??? So sad for me!!! Anyway, the concert was fabulous and all of them showed a huge competence on stage!!!! Steve Morse destroyed the guitar!!!! Made tears fall from my eyes in the intro solo of "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming".
